Overview
For many patients the area beneath the chin is the one place that does not respond to diet or exercise, no matter how well they take care of themselves everywhere else. It is not a reflection of how they live or how they feel. It is simply anatomy, and for some people it is a persistent source of frustration that affects how they feel in photos, how they carry themselves, and how confident they feel in their own appearance.
Kybella® is the only FDA approved injectable treatment for submental fullness, the area of fat beneath the chin that creates the appearance of a double chin. It contains a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body and breaks down fat cells on contact. Once those cells are destroyed they are gradually eliminated by the body, producing a more defined jawline and profile over the course of your treatment series.

What should I avoid before my treatment?

What should I expect after treatment and is there any downtime?
Swelling in the treated area is expected and is actually a sign that the treatment is working. The swelling can be significant after the first session and typically subsides over one to two weeks. Most patients are able to return to normal activities relatively quickly, though the visible swelling is worth planning around.
